Background

My fourth child was born with bilateral severe to profound hearing loss. Before bringing him home after his birth, a nurse told me that he had failed his hearing screen and would be referred for an audiology appointment. All I knew about hearing loss was that my great grandpa could not hear without hearing aids when I was a child. He would turn them off at nap time and tune everything out while my great grandma watched her "stories" after the news at noon. Anyway, this began our new journey...
