Special Ed or Civil Rights Attorneys

My daughter will be a first year sped teacher. I’m a veteran sped teacher. I went to an interview for and MSD job. Discussed all the ways I would work with the students and teach them. My daughter was called for a MSD position interview same school different position. They told her what they wanted a someone to show up everyday and have parent communication. She got the position. To me this is a downgrade to this population of students and their parents. How do you feel about the sped director saying this?

Any advice appreciated. I'm going to simplify this because it's been a long ugly battle with our school. My dyslexic 9yo (NY) was declassified because we refused the IEP we were given. The only option they gave us was to move her to a different school for ICT. I believe this is retaliatory because we've known since 1st grade she is dyslexic and they refused to acknowledge us. My problem with this, besides obvious, is the teachers are no more credentialed than the OG she's getting via RTI. We asked she stay at her school with MS reading and they declined, said it's not a sped service so she doesn't need to be classified. Told me to sign revoke consent or she wouldn't be …

Hi….I’ve been a member for a while. I’m in California, I have twins, I’m a single mom, and I have a very big case against the school district and beyond. District is pushing to settle (mediator contacting me daily now), but I don’t have a lawyer, and am not equipped to negotiate settlement agreement that spans special Ed, civil rights, personal injury, etc. District understands this is what we are both talking about. Again, this goes far beyond compensatory services and requires an attorney who can jump in now, understand multiple overlapping areas of law, and negotiate a settlement agreement now.

Hi--I'm looking for parents and attorneys who have pursued retaliation claims against their school. My case is very extreme and unheard of by even the most hardened advocates. One of my children's teachers have developed an inappropriate emotional relationship with the child and are manipulating the child in ways that affect my child's mental health and my rights as a parent. Hello, My 7yo son who is on an IEP is on an intra district transfer from his home school. He has missed quite a few days but I have doctors notes he has caught everything under the sun. We were sent to a DART meeting stating his intra district transfer has been revoked and he will have to go back to his home school for next school year. This meeting was with the school district’s Assistant Superintendent I filed an appeal stating he has excused doctors notes as well as explained emotional distress he was going through at times from what some of the staff has put him through. He qualifies for services under SLI, OHI, and AUT. Think gestalt language learner, pragmatic and receptive language challenges.
