IEE question

Featured Replies

I requested an IEE in May and was approved. Received, signed and sent the NOREP 3 days later. Also provided the name of the neuropsychologist I chose, who is also a licensed school psychologist (should be no issues with credentials and this provider did a previous, well-received evaluation on my grandson) A week later I scheduled an evaluation with my chosen provider and asked them to draw up a contract for the school district. The LEA has not yet responded to or signed the contract. Did I jump the gun? Was I supposed to wait for approval? Or is this just because it’s summer and people not available to respond to emails?

Regardless of past evaluations done by this provider, he/she will still need approval from the school district before moving forward.  So my guess is that you will have no choice but to wait because the provider won't draw up the contract yet.

As for it being summer, if the LEA is not someone who works year round, send the request for approving your neuropsychologist choice to the Director of Special Education, who probably does work year round.

I think you might need to call the sp ed director to see what's up with moving forward.  You can also try calling the person who does account payable.  They do input so checks can be processed and might know the procedure for getting an IEE OKed.

Thank you for your input. I actually received a signed contract from the LEA the day after I posted this😀
