September 2, 20233 yr I have been consistently doing a parent concern letter for 5 years. However, every year the IEP team does not put my letter into his IEP they have been picking and choosing what to put into his IEP from my letter. How can make sure that what is in my letter gets in his IEP in it's entirety?
September 2, 20233 yr Have you asked them directly? You can close your letter with: Please copy and paste the above into the parent concerns section of the IEP. Not sure if they are concerned about plagiarism with using a parent's exact words...
September 3, 20233 yr Moderators Unfortunately, I know of at least one state that has made a determination (after a state complaint was filed regarding this issue) that school districts do not have to "copy and paste" parent concern letters into an IEP document. So you may not get your exact wording in the document. HOWEVER, the school district DOES have to put all your parent concerns (that are related to the IEP) in the document whether by way of copying and pasting or paraphrasing your words. If they do not, ask for the refusal in a PWN. If they refuse the PWN, file a state complaint.
