About Me

The first time I advocated for my son to get proper education, he was in preschool and it was 2018. Advocacy for your kids isn't a one and done sort of thing, as much as we wish it could be. I'm so very thankful that a private school exists to help my daughter get everything she needs ingrained into the curriculum and school culture without an IEP. My son's school district has always approached this as an adversarial project and after learning I was lied to, I turned to friends who had gone through this already. I like to say when I get mad, I get info. I'm all about having as much knowledge as possible. My husband calls it weaponized research, but at the same time I approach the IEP as a collaboration, I just make sure I get my own facts as the district's facts haven't been the full story, historically speaking. I love helping other people learn about the IEP process and the rights they have and I would like to have my advocacy switch to requiring school districts to provide more information to parents in the future.
