Does This IEP Make Sense? What should I ask for?

How do I phrase to ask/request for a no-meet amendment to be added to my daughter's IEP? I don't recall having IEP meeting for an official written request by parent for an assessment to be conducted and added as an addendum to IEP. I'll ask what other agenda items there may be but the notice was in response to my written request for school to conduct a (Supplementary aids and services) SaS Considerations Toolkit - because IEP strategies are not being implemented.

Hello all! So I know there is a whole blog post about this, and I have read (and re-read it) several times, but here are the specifics as to where I am stuck with my daughter's situation. She is due for her triennial eval and the school is pushing really hard to close the IEP and go to a 504 only. I very, very strongly disagree with this and know that as soon as they pull her SDI supports, she will fail. Hi, I am a therapist in Delaware and frequently refer parents and students to request an evaluation through their school when we suspect ADHD. Every time a girl requests this evaluation the school comes back to say they have reviewed her grades and based on that they don't think she needs an evaluation. Clearly there is still a whole lot of confusion about the differences in presentation between boys and girls but am I mistaken in thinking that if a parent requests an evaluation the school is obligated to complete one despite something like good grades? What is going on that schools decide whether or not they want to evaluate?

Pennsylvania if it matters We have an IEP mtg scheduled shortly before thanksgiving. This means our 10 day deadline to return the signed PWN will occur during the holiday week when the district is closed. can an email be sent with a copy of the signed PWN on or before the 10 day deadline since emails naturally have a date/time stamp? In my eyes, this is proof that you submitted on time but is it legally permissible? If so, where can I find this law? I have a 15 year old/ in 9th grade. Adopted in November 2020. Finally had IEP setup February 2022. No progress has been made. Currently in due process waiting for a court date to fight for an OOD placement. I am noticing now that her grades are being inflated. Assuming this is being done to show progress for court. Of course ethically I know this is wrong, but does this violate any laws or anything that I can quote to let them know that hey I'm on to their game? My daughter attends a charter school in Texas. At her Initial IEP meeting Friday the principal was adamant that we not remove band and give her a study hall. Stating that it is a school requirement. My understanding is that State and Federal Law FAPE/IDEA can trump that. For now we agreed for an online class. I was told after the meeting that they are behind loading classes online. It is now about to be November and not sure when they are supposed to load this class for her. This class is a "special" so only taken 3xs a week. Hi, my daughter is 13, autistic, has ADHD and is a toe walker. Because she has been toe walking for years, and we didn't intervene (I know, I didn't know, and I should have known), she has lost almost all of her mobility in her Achilles and calves. She cannot flex her foot at all almost. She finally has started getting private PT and I put in for a PT eval through school. In the eval, they acknowledged the issue, but said since it does not impact my daughter educationally that she was not eligible for PT services, even on consult. Hi all, curious to know...once a school district uses an outside evaluation to develop an IEP (vision assessment and psych eval, 1st grade), will they allow use of a neuropsych from an outside agency to add to the IEP if needed? Thanks~

We had yet another IEP meeting yesterday. My child is is general Ed most of the time with a limited amount of time in the learning support room. We moved from one zoned school district (where my son is in the inclusionary co-teaching classroom due to autism) to a different zoned school within the same district which does not have any co-teaching classrooms available for my son to be in. So he would be in a gen-ed classroom. I've attached a message from the chief of state & federal programs for the district saying that there is no change in placement. On his IEP, placement has co-teaching checked (as well as consultative and small groups). Hi all. I’m new to this. We had my daughters ‘s determination meeting today and the school said they will not evaluate her. They are forming a committee to brainstorm solutions for her to thrive. They told me I can request another meeting to determine later if all this other stuff doesn’t work. my thought is to take the 6-8 weeks and try all their suggestions and then call another meeting to prove it didn’t work, but my husband says to hire a lawyer. The district approved my request for a neuropsych at the state rate. The Assistant Director is telling me I need to find a provider and ask if they accept state rate and go from there. Sounds ideal right? Except now I have to do all the leg work and it seems pretty impossible after calling around everywhere. Someone just told me they’re required to give me a list of providers. Has anyone ever heard of Speech Therapy being done during recess? I was just asked if I would consider changing the location for 2 of his 4 days from "therapy room" to "across school settings " so he can have recess 3 days instead of the 1 day he is getting now because that's "the only time we can schedule him in during the week. " because "he gets so much pull out time already." Needless to say, I am pissed. They scheduled it and never told me when it was. He's been going with recess only 1 day a week for 3 weeks now. Um, they know he's adhd too.... How do I diplomatically tell them to figure out another solution?

My daughter (6) is medically complex and has an Individualized Healthcare Plan (IHP) developed alongside her IEP annually. She has not had a finalized IHP since October 2021. I have been more than patient in working with the school to get this done but without success. My son's FBA is complete and I have the Notification to Participate in the IEP meeting.(develop, review or revise) The meeting is scheduled for Nov 3. although I have been doing these for years, I have not been doing them right ( participating and advocating). I read that one can request a DRAFT copy of the FBA before the meeting. Do I sign the Notification and intention to be at the IEP and attatch a letter requesting the info before the meeting or should I wait until i have the info before commiting to the meeting? Hi, our child uses a stander at school for 3 years to prevent tightening of hip muscles and bone strengthening. The school now is saying that they don't have to use the stander because it's a medical need and not school related. But under FAPE and health related needs I thought they had to allow this accommodation if needed medically to allow her to attend school and get around. It is being done at school as there isn't enough time to be able to consistently do it at home due to working late or therapy/doctor's appointments . Hello! This will be a little long, but it needs the backstory to make sense as to what I am needing. My 4yo attends a preK program for disabled children at our local school district (we live in Texas). He has two separate feeding tubes (a G and a surgical J). At school, he uses the G for water boluses and the J for a continuous feed that is started at school by the nurse. Second grade student currently has an IEP for ID (moderate), OHI and SLI. Recently diagnosed w/ASD. I know ASD medical and educational are different, and also realize the public agency doesn't have to honor his medical diagnosis of ASD, I'll be requesting re-evaluation under ASD at this week's annual. I got to thinking though, wouldn't it be better just to request re-evaluation under MD instead? Anyone ever receive any pushback on a re-evaluation request under MD, and if so why?

Anyone had any luck with getting a private RBT approved by solely private insurance while in a public agency? I'm in the process of doing this and at my recent annual, got no pushback on my request. I'm reading the notes from the proposed IEP that covers the details from our meeting and it's listed as 'a need in order to access FAPE and that public agency has no concerns regarding parent's request for private RBT services while in a school setting'. Hi! My son is Autistic (suspected ADHD and 2e) in 1st grade in the extended resource room, a placement that worked well for him in Kindergarten. After the first six weeks of school, he's started to refuse to go, usually once we've made it to the playground and are on school property. He always says school is "boring and hard" and he feels "scared" or "nervous" to go. My husband and I have tried many strategies, but most of them won’t work more than 3-4 school days. The school conducted an FBA, during a time when my daughter was out sick for three weeks with only a couple days in school during which they did the observations. The FBA meeting was held and the BIP was written, mostly by me. It has been less than a week since the BIP was written and the school is already pushing for a placement meeting to "determine where she would be better suited." Are there any requirements for how long a BIP has to be implemented before placement can be changed? Two years ago my daughter was diagnosed with ASD, ADHD, generalized anxiety and learning disabilities. She was placed in a therapeutic day school through an IEP from the school district. One month ago she has had medical issues that doctors have not been able to identify.
