Does This IEP Make Sense? What should I ask for?

My school district is suggesting a Facilitator. How is the facilitator chosen? Would I have a say in this? I'm in Ohio.

What educational impact would/could be seen/linked to LPT3 subtest scores indicating difficulties in the areas of categorization and generating attributes of common nouns? Also demonstrated slow processing speed throughout the assessment for formal and informal activities.

I’m a special needs advocate. I have a client who called an IEP meeting. Does the parent legally have to provide an agenda prior to the meeting to the school? Thanks in advance.

Hi all, my 10th grade daughter has selective mutism/ social anxiety and has had an IEP for years. She has made much progress and speaks to many teachers and peers freely but not all. She is struggling in algebra 2 despite the math teacher being wonderful and helping her some days before school and again alter in the day during advisory period. She spends a lot of time each night trying to get everything completed and has started to have headaches and TMJ due to stress and anxiety over math. My son’s school (a charter) just asked to move his annual IEP meeting from the end of the year to later this month because he moved up to a more advanced ELA class and is “an Armstrong student” I will ask the school but would like to hear from experts here, too.

Is there a CSE meeting to discuss the FBA/BIP to be implemented ahead of the Annual CSE meeting? Or are both implemented in the Annual meeting?

Hello, my child is 8 years old. She is a gestalt learner. She is verbal but Has a significant functional communication speech delay. My son is currently on an IEP. A little background. He started school in a different district and I fought tooth and nail to get him an IEP, for two years it was fighting that school system. We moved to a different district and amazing things happened. My son is non verbal 9 year old kid goes to a public school. He is in self constraint classroom and has an IEP. He can not communicate and share about school. I get a log file from teacher but that just have little info like he did "writing , wh questions etc etc". I understand it is hard to write everyday more than this for each kid. The high school did a reevaluation & a review of records from his 5th grade IEP and determined he is eligible for services (OHI-Adhd). The school did not do any assessments even though his triennial was technically over-due at that time. A year ago my son qualified for services for emotional disturbance (pervasive mood of depression at school) and ADHD. He also qualifies for speech and OT services. He is currently in third grade. My 9yo has an allotment for extended time in her recommendations from a Neuropsychologist as well as listed in her IEP. There is no language about the percentage of time increase. Her 3rd grade class has daily timed math fast facts. If she doesnt get it completed a new sheet comes home to do. She came home from school with several layers of skin chewed off her thumb. I'm being told the school wants to declassify my daughter (who has a physical genetic condition) due to the fact that her condition "doesn't impact her academic needs" -- IE. she gets good grades. I'm trying to research my rights for OT, PT and functional skills, etc.

Can a school district deny eligibility if their own objective data shows that 2/3 IEP goals have not been met? Their progress reporting admits that my son hasn't been given the opportunities to work on these goals, but they essentially dismissed the lack of meeting these goals by giving all these anecdotes about "what they're seeing" when denying eligibility. Also--does anyone have the ability to provide a second opinion scoring of a WIAT III essay composition (word count and thematic organization SS)? My son's annual meeting is coming up and it will be facilitated. I'm totally confused about some things that are going on... We had a meeting prior to Christmas and the school team agreed to evaluate my son for OT services. We are concerned because my son seems to get overwhelmed at school and is frequenlty putting his head down. He doesn't participate and/or complete work in several classes. Good morning, I have a case where the initial evaluation was started 4/28/2022 and completed 10/6/2022. The child didn't qualify for services even though most of his T-scores on the BASC3 was above 70 so in the clinically significant area. The child also has a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, and OCD. I was informed yesterday in a meeting we can no longer use the initial evaluation to try to get services. The school has to perform a whole new evaluation. This is in the state of Missouri. I just received an email for the school psychologist in Missouri stating she cannot send any documents of the child (PWN and RED) to any outside agencies/advocates in an email. The mother signed a release form from the school allowing myself access to all information. Is this true? We have a very heated 2 hr meeting yesterday. My son qualifies under OHI, but to get certain goals added to his IEP I need to show his disability has adverse impact on his performance in those areas. What kind of data is helpful for this? Classroom assessments? Standardized assessments? If he fails every test on a specific topic, but does well enough on other topics that he passes the class, can his passing grade be used to disprove educational impact? Specifically I think he needs goals in mathematical problem solving and organization of essays and research papers. CA - IEP is on Thursday. The team proposes a new behavior goal (no BIP or behavior assessment has been completed outside of teacher observation) for "anger/frustration tolerance". It is always very clear why he is frustrated/angry. What is the Pennsylvania threshold for discrepancy qualification for school speech services? Can the discrepancy be in only a subtest area or does it have to be an overall discrepancy? Is there some sort of equivalent age norm discrepancy in additional to standard deviations or percentile threshold? I was given the age norm discrepancy in terms of being over two years below child’s actual age.

I just noticed an error in my child's IEP. One of his WISC-V index scores is 78, which has a descriptive category of "very low." The school psychologist who did the evaluation wrote the correct descriptive category in her report, but everywhere in his IEP and diagnostic summary report, the descriptive category says "low average." Maybe it is a typo, but his school has a long history of denying his disability and this feels like more of the same.
