Does This IEP Make Sense? What should I ask for?

Sarasota, FL area here. My child is in grade 3. Who feels an observation of class would be helpful? His grades are ALL over the place! A, C, or F. They (teacher and principal) have no interest in allowing it. Cited a legal items and now it's ok for a few minutes. Not the idea at all. Don't even care if it's electronic. please provide input

My son has Developmental Coordination Disorder which results in fine motor delays, motor planning challenges, and visual and auditory processing deficits. OT is extremely helpful, and it is the only thing that is helpful. There is no medication available. The way this affects him in school is that he cannot do any activity that requires motor planning: crafts, puzzles, building projects, drawing. Situation: Child has had an IEP for speech services since K. Child is currently in 4th grade, has average grades but struggles with severe anxiety. Mom has emailed the teacher to ask for a full eval for possible learning disabilities (mom is dyslexic) and to rule everything out since she is pursuing treatment options for the anxiety and child has poor reading comprehension. The teacher forwarded parent's email to an administrator about 2 weeks ago. Admin came back and said that the parent's request (which was very clear and to the point in requesting a formal eval by the school psych) was "not send to the correct person." My daughter was a late talker as a baby. Then in Kinder, she was already struggling in school. I had her privately tested, and she showed signs & symptoms of dyslexia. In first grade, we did the school testing, and she was given an IEP under SLD and OHI for attention. She had an excellent case manager from 1st through mid-4th grade. During 4th grade, she was given to another case manager and also had her triennial. I'm trying to education my son's school and IEP team about this topic but whenever I Google it, I can find are topics about face coverings and that's not what I'm looking for. Hi! My son just received his MDT and it appears his ADHD Executive Functioning challenges are becoming a big concern at school. Goals have been created, however, I was recently told about cognitive enhancement programs and how that could be a intervention through school for his EF deficits. Has anyone every recommended or had their child utilize an Executive Functioning Intervention like cognitive enhancement programs through the school, e.g. Brainware or Lexia? Thank you in advance!

My son qualifies for an IEP based on executive functioning deficits due to Developmental Coordination Disorder. He has difficulty organizing his thoughts and sequencing multistep problems. He also has a very low visual-spatial index (6th or 7th percentile). His fluid reasoning and math computation skills are solidly in the average range and he did fine in math until his school switched curricula. My 9yo daughter has been diagnosed with EFD and is at high risk for ADHD and a math learning disorder. We have a great relationship with the school and teaching staff. In Ohio, all of standardized testing is completed on a computer. There has to be prior, special permissions for anyone not using a computer. The Spec Ed Director has been trying to get me information re my daughter and using a paper test but until then she has to use a computer. How does EFD affect information processing and output? We had our annual meeting about 2 months ago. My son has trouble transitioning to speech therapy. He doesn't like the provider. I offered a number of suggestions to meet him where he's at and to work on building a positive relationship. She responded that from now on, she'll just be having behavior support staff transition him down to her room. I requested a meeting with the IEP team to discuss. My 14yo son has always had very high anxiety. He's having trouble with wanting to go to school and stay at school. At our placement he just got dismissed from he didnt have a choice but to go as a van picked him up and transported. But he did everything he could to be sent home. He just wants to be with mom. Hi My son is 8, he is non verbal and he has Down syndrome. I am vehemently opposed to having an IQ score in his school records, and have explained over and over my reasoning at various meetings to various school/district personnel. The district are refusing to omit the IQ portion from his upcoming MET testing. They pretty much say, it’s all testing or nothing. Does anyone have any advice? I know a family who recently received an autism diagnosis for their son. The son already has an IEP under OHI. The mother wants autism put on the IEP, which I know schools don’t want to do. The school told the mother that she had to wait until the next MET to add the diagnosis. Is that true? I didn’t think it was since they only have to do a MET once every three years. What do we ask for to get it added?

I know, I know, virtual charters aren't the best idea, but my state really cracks down on them. That being said, my daughter is in one for various reasons. Am I unrealistic with expectations here? The IEP took, no problem. But I feel like so many of the accommodations just fall back on me. I get that I am the most logical person to provide breaks and alternate schedules, but I feel like I'm drowning under it all. The assessment report had 5 extra page to it then what was shared with me, The school made all the decisions on behalf of me and didn't share those IEP plans and documents with me, my agenda was shared towards the end of the meeting and they'd say because we want to explain everything to ask questions when they are done. I emailed three dates/times to school yesterday at their request for a meeting. It is not our annual meeting. They responded back that none of those times worked and asked for other times. Our ASD ADHD GenEd 9yo struggles with impulse control. I would like to get some ideas of goals or accommodations that could help. An example: the class was going to do an activity that involved using candy pumpkins. The class was ‘clearly told that they were not to eat the pumpkins because different kids would be touching them.’ Our daughter went to get hers and immediately popped it into her mouth. The teacher asked her about it and she lied and was asked to open her mouth and of course, there it was. All of my kids have moved from no supports/100% gen ed to more and more restrictive settings..including nonpublic (100% kids on IEPs)/special needs schools and residential and each on of them really would do best with a gen-ed setting..that is what they want, that is the best fit socially and somewhat academically BUT the large classroom size of gen-ed becomes the barrier. In two cases, the kids need more social-emotional supports and maybe a slightly slower/flexible pace, in one case the kid just needs a little LD help in writing and math but that is not available at his school w/out getting pull out (I know I know..this is not okay but there's literally no way to hire/f…

What situations best fit bringing in a spec ed lawyer? As background, I have an 8 yo daughter with a medical diagnosis of ADHD combined type, Autism, and Amblyopia. My child has an ADHD diagnosis, but does not hold a medical autism diagnosis, despite displaying a lot of characteristics of a child on the spectrum, most of which are worsened during the school day. I know it's common for a child to receive a medical autism diagnosis and not qualify educationally, but is the reverse also possible? Can I ask for him to be evaluated for educational autism, even though he doesn't have medical autism per a recent neuropsych? Or maybe the neuropsych got it wrong...
