Does This IEP Make Sense? What should I ask for?

New diagnosis of autism with a not completed assessment. Long story short he felt unsafe and found the questions too personal and refused to finish. He won’t sit for the test again as it would be completed by the same person. He has profound adhd and it’s so hard to determine what’s what. I see it my wife not so much. She often says well that sit and that sign and this one etc….are also adhd. Can Special Education services be denied based on “lack of attendance” construed as “lack of instruction”? How much class time would a student need to miss in order to meet that “lack of instruction” definition?

My child takes the special ed school bus and there was an incident where my boy was attacked by another older child. The bus aide said he intervened and stopped the fight. I asked the case manager to provide the video and the case manager says I cannot see the video because there are other kids in the video. Hi, I'm looking for someone to look at my child's testing results, help me understand them, and make educational recommendations. I know a neuropsych evaluation will do this, but I cannot afford a full neuropsych eval so I am wondering if there is a similar service that will use existing testing results. So far the places I have contacted will only do that kind of analysis and reporting on tests they have done themselves. I have a 16yo boy in IEP for depression, anxiety and social anixety who has previously had an extremely difficult time attending school on a consistent basis due to school refusal. He would miss 20+ days a year. I think the refusal was due to bullying, not fitting in and not feeling safe/comfortable in school from pre-k till 10th. He's been in different settings including public, home-based, 2 private placement, back to public, home-based, to private placement and now back to home-based. This is a little boy with autism and ADHD in first grade who has become very interested in private parts, understanding how breast feeding works and all the other things little boys become curious about. Hi all, I have 2 boys who are autistic and in kindergarten. Our school district (as well as ALL the public and private school districts within driving distance) does full-day kindergarten, and it's not really working. One (H) has PDA and tends to totally melt down by the end of the day due to the demands placed on him and sensory overload. Background: we filed a state complaint last school year, the district was found out of compliance and required to complete corrective actions by September and submit evidence of having done so to the state. Three months later, they still haven't completed the required actions. Have other people been in this situation? What should we expect to happen next? Do we need to file an additional state complaint regarding the refusal to complete corrective actions? Or does the state follow up independently if they do not receive evidence that the district followed through? How long does this whole process usually take?

My daughter is a homebound student(not home/hospital). Qualifies under multiple disabilities and requires full assistance in all goals outlined in her IEP. We have had to remain virtual since March of 2020 due to Covid, despite easing of restrictions and our other kids returning full time in person. I have a preschooler with an IEP in our current district in California. We are planning to move within a few months to another neighboring school district (supposed to be with better inclusion practices and better schools). I would like to know what to expect once we move: 1. Question for you: I spoke with the Assistant to Special Education Services in my town about an LEA at my IEP meetings, and I was told the LEA is the building principal-- does that make sense? We had a meeting, and then I wrote a request for changes letter. They don't want to make any of the changes and want to have another IEP meeting "to explain to me why we should not add anything or change it at this time." I am working with a parent (PA) who has requested an iPad for her visually impaired child (1st grade). Outside evals support this, which was used to develop to IEP. We did a revision and the school removed the iPad use for reading and math. Any guidance moving forward on how to make this happen? If school removed it, does parent get a PWN? Thanks!

Hello, I am new to this forum and hope this is the correct place to post. My son is in 4th grade and just started in my district’s LD classroom this year. He has dyslexia, executive functioning issues, anxiety and adhd. We fought putting him in this class because socially he does better with his gen ed peers. I am filing a state complaint in GA on behalf of my daughter. She has an IEP. I discovered grammatical errors on a test and there was a test question in math that didn't list the correct answer as one of the answer choices. I don't believe this is a one off situation. The administration at the school disregarded my concerns. My daughter has comprehension issues. What law does this violate? How do I include this in my complaint?

Hello - Im in NC. My son was homeschooled from the end of 5th grade (yr.2019) to end of 8th (yr. 2022). He has had an IEP since 2nd grade (except when homeschooled). In PA: when I requested SaS (services aids supports) Considerations Toolkit, the school began compiling information before I was aware and had IEP meeting for me to give my input to include. I’ve asked for a continuance of the IEP meeting so I can review their SaS data. This is not the SaS toolkit I’ve researched which includes an outside facilitator but it’s the way the district says they can also do it. Anyone experienced this? Outside facilitator is one reason I wanted this evaluation because school hasn’t been cooperative or following IEP but claims they are. My daughter only has accommodations in her IEP and services, no modifications, but school wrote "she attends general education class with adaptations to the curriculum" in a document to be used for an evaluation. I'm not aware of any modifications provided or that there are modifications to Gen Ed curriculum. This is the first time I see the word adaptations in any of my daughter's documents. I thought adaptation = modification. Can someone confirm? If adaptation = modification, then school is inaccurate. They have been wanting to remove her from Gen Ed. In Georgia My 12 year old informed me that he had his speech evaluation (doesn’t currently have an IEP but does have a 504) done over a zoom call. The evaluator is based in Florida. i know COVID has brought on some funny ways of doing evaluations but how is this ok? There is no personal relationship made, they couldn’t physically see my son. He does much better over a computer screen than in person as well. A large concern of mine was in social language. I wasn’t told it would be a virtual evaluation. My 6 year old also has an IEP and he was alway seen in person.
