Does This IEP Make Sense? What should I ask for?

My third grade son had his IEP last week on February 8. I requested that his case manager send me the IEP draft for review after the meeting so that I can review it and submit any comments before it is locked. His case manager told me that she is unable to do so and that I can request an amendment or correction after it locks if needed. I have been through the IEP process multiple times and I always request the opportunity to review the draft before it is locked. Do I have a right to do so? Any recommendations?

I'm a new special education teacher this year. When writing IEPs and editing during the meeting, I've always included parent input of a child's strengths in the IEP section for reading, writing, math, etc. The form my school uses does have a section for overall strengths/interests/preferences as well, where I put parent input. I also get teacher input for each section - I figure that as a team, what everyone say's is helpful to put in the IEP. Hello, I need help with 2 SDIs that are limited in the wording the school provided. The first one is about notes. It reads, "Provide notes when applicable to reduce the need to copy from the board. Avoid cursive whenever possible." My child is in 8th grade and is being required to take extensive notes in class and then finish those notes for homework. Hi all. My now 7th grade son has had an IEP for last 5 years. He has ADHD and elementary school was a mess! Early on he had both academic and social emotional goals. The transition to middle school actually went waaay better than I expected. Because of a scheduling error on the school's part he ended up in the regular classes not clustered with other iep students. Hi, I have all of my old emails telling the principals , teachers and guidance counselors that my child needed extra math support. I even have 2 that ask for a math IEP to be put in placed and the principal pushed me off each time, saying they were doing new things and offering push in support in the classroom. Hello I want to start off and say some kids do well in general Education while bringing autistic which is the exception not the rule. Which is why I get frustrated at team members always GeN Ed as some goal or amazing finish line. I'm in nyc and I honestly never want or see my son in GenEd. What does anyone know about having the School District send someone to your home to receive services at your personal residence? This is what has been proposed by the Sp Ed case manager. Our MS student has been diagnosed with ADHD, major depression, and generalized anxiety. She became increasingly school avoidant over the course of this year. Hi there, I received IEP meeting notices for my twin girls who will go to Kindergarten in the fall. They currently have IFSPs- in our state there is not IEP until kindergarten. I noticed that for one of the girls just the Kindergarten teacher and a SLP was invited- no special educator. That seems incomplete, right? There should be a special educator right? I have a client in Missouri who wants to request an evaluation for an IEP. However, we are coming to the end of the school year. If she requests an evaluation this school year and moves to another school in the fall, will that school continue the evaluation from the previous school? So a total of 60 days from the old school to the new school to complete evaluation?

I had my daughter’s IEP meeting and had some questions about her testing. I had asked for additional testing, she is fourth grade. After looking through all of the scoring, I saw that her IQ went down 16 points. I know that. IQ doesn’t necessarily always indicate anything, I expressed my concern with this change as all of her other scores were within the average range. My concern was that if the IQ was not valid, maybe other tests weren’t either. Hello, I would like to check if anyone every requested for monthly updates from service providers like speech and OT? I did last year. I was actively involved in the IEP process, asking questions and discuss. Soon after I received an email from administrator that they are asking me and all the IEP team to copy all the members any time they communicate to us. We had an MDR over two weeks ago for my daughter. There was no consensus, I was rushed through the meeting, and I didn't get to present all of the evidence that I had because the pricipal kept saying he had other meetings to get to and he wanted to rush it along. Do I need to have an IEP meeting to decline IQ and standardized tests? I've read and decided to decline these 2 types of tests. Requesting for clear information from the school is like pulling teeth so I'd like to learn about the typical process for declining specific tests. Is an email sufficient? Do I have to state reasons? I am helping a parent who has a 6th grade boy that has severe dyslexic. The small, rural school uses IXL an online practice tool that supplements learning. It is rigorous and takes point away when students get an answer wrong. Teachers like it because it provides them immediate feedback on progress, parents dislike it because it demoralizes their children.
